Job description
The job requires a minimum of three (3) months’ experience in tasks associated with farm experience.
This work can require standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds for long periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions. This work requires adherence to important food safety and quality standard operating procedures and the ability to work quickly and consistently alongside fellow workers with a positive, professional, team-based attitude and a consideration for the safety and health of fellow workers and of the consumers who will purchase and consume the crops grown, harvested, packed, and shipped from the farm.

Workers may perform the following job duties on any of the commodities listed above and various points during the duration of the contract.
Detasseling: Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. The worker will walk down the aisle between the plants in the cornfields, for the purpose of detasseling seed corn, remove rogue plants, weeds, and volunteer corn plants from seed corn production fields. As well as loading corn into dryer bins, unload ear corn trucks, load shuck trailers, and perform harvesting complex duties.
Quality Checker: The worker may be asked to check the quality by moving down a row checking quality to ensure that all seed tassels were sufficiently removed. They will report issues to the supervisor.
Hand Pollinating: Shoot-bagging, cutting back, detasseling, putting tassels bags up, and taking tassel bags down. Pollinating is the primary duty of this application and accounts for 95% of the anticipated workload. All other job duties are only conducted in support of the primary duty and account for 5% of the remaining workload.
Plot Maintenance: Hand pull weeds, backpack spray weeds with Roundup under supervision of licensed applicator, inoculating corn stalks with pipe jabbens and/or with inoculating team. Drilling holes in the stalk with a cordless drill, inoculate stalks with inoculation gun, then smear petroleum jelly over the holes. Shoot bagging, cutting back, putting tassel bags up, and tassel bags down.
Irrigation Maintenance: Assemble and disassemble irrigation pipes, hoses, sprinklers, and guns, as well as drive fence posts into the ground, and the sprinklers to them for stability.
Research Harvest: hand harvesting, setting up harvesting bags, loading transport trucks, and removing stakes and bags from the field.
Field Task: Weeding, raking, leaf sampling, gene checks, staking, picking up trash, and stocking harvest supplies.
Assisting in the cleanup of the equipment and work area during hybrid code changes. Cleaning the lawn area around the harvest complex, as well as cleaning the work area at the end of each shift.
All employees must follow all quality control and safety measures while using personal protective equipment. The duties and responsibilities of workers may be revised verbally and/or in writing, as needed by the location manager and/or field supervisor. The workers must be able to speak and understand English.
