Job description
Harvest of vegetable crops; crop/field maintenance; planting; weeding
with long stick hoe. Placement and removal of wood stakes, string and
plastic required for growing crops.
Weeding (with a long stick hoe) and harvest of peppers (various varieties), tomatoes,
eggplant, garlic, onions and assorted greens.
Harvest vegetable crops: Jalapeno Peppers, Bell Peppers, mini
peppers, (topping) Garlic & Onions, egg plant and tomatoes. By hour
and piece work.
Packing vegetable crops: Jalapeno Peppers, Bell Peppers, mini
peppers, Habanero Peppers, Egg plant and tomatoes
May be offered to drive harvesting belt, tractor
Daily schedule may vary. Employer will pay overtime to the workers
who work more than 8 hours per day and/or over 40 hours per week.
Double the regular rate of pay required after 12 hours in a workday and
time and one-half pay for the first eight hours worked on the seventh
consecutive day of work, and double-time pay for all work performed
in excess of eight hours on the seventh consecutive day of work.
Special Requirements
Workers are provided a two-day break-in period to acclimate to the demands of the job. Workers must be physically fit to perform job duties without succumbing to excessive exhaustion after break-in period. Workers will be provided safety training and will be expected to handle tools/equipment safely and carefully so as to avoid crop damage and to protect the worker from potential injury. Must report to work sober. May be subjected to and must pass post-employment, employer-paid drug test. Workers under the influence of drugs or alcohol pose a safety threat to themselves and other workers and cause liability for the employer.
