Job description
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Truck drivers will use semi-trucks to transport sweet potatoes, grain and/or cotton to elevator or storage area, located on and off farm. Workers may be asked to operate vehicles, farm equipment, cotton pickers and drive all tractors, in the fields. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Inspect loads to ensure that products are secure. Secure products for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers. Maneuver trucks into and out of the loading and unloading positions. Load & unload boxes on trucks trailers. The ability of an employee to safely operate machinery and vehicles will be left up to the discretion of management.
Special Requirements
Workers must be 18 years or older. Three (3) months experience in driving trucks, tractors, and trailers. Commercial Driver's License required. Employer may conduct a criminal background. Workers will sit for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements and must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift while performing their required job duties. There is a lifting requirement of 5 60 lbs. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. If the employee is unable or unfit to perform the duties listed after the 14-day pretrial, the employee will receive warnings, hours may be reduced to the minimum allowed in the certified petition or terminated.
