Job description

Supervise agricultural workers performing crop production activities. Assign daily work duties, train workers in planting, cultivating, or harvesting techniques. Train and monitor workers on safety protocols and safe equipment handling/operation. Discipline workers who violate safety regulations. Perform quality control inspections on products. Observe workers to detect inefficient or unsafe work procedures. Review work to evaluate timeliness and proficiency. Direct or assist with operation of farm equipment or machinery. Prepare reports on production and crop yield. Prepare and maintain time or payroll reports, as well as details of personnel actions. Supervise chemical application and other work activities associated with crop production. Driver/Supervisor will be responsible for the transportation of other workers. Must have and maintain a valid U.S. commercial driver's license (CDL) or Licencia Federal de Conductor. Must have clean driving record. Must comply with all applicable requirements of the USDOT regulations. Must have no disqualifying factors under applicable law or employer's motor vehicle insurance policy. Disqualifying factors include but are not limited to: conviction for driving under the influence, driving while impaired or the occurrence of a serious at-fault accident. A uniformly conducted motor vehicle records check will assess whether applicant has a clean driving record and is legally entitled to operate commercial motor vehicles in the United States. Grove caretake ,plant, land prep: Workers may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean-up work. These activities may removing debris, boxes, discarded fruit from fields to clean growing area , repair and or replace irrigation equipment , may maintain fence lines and moving farm equipment Worker will go down the fields carrying trays of transplant and plant them individually in the prepared planting bed by bending down and planting the transplants in the ground & tractor field work. WATERMELON- Perform manual labor to hand cut watermelons. Use hand tools such as shears and knives. Duties also include cleaning, loading, and unloading harvested products, move farm equipment . Sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Clean and maintain work areas. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practice policies. Perform prolonged bending, reaching, and lifting up to 60 lbs. Grove Clean-up: Workers may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean-up work. These activities may included removing debris, boxes, discarded fruit from fields to clean growing area , repair and or replace irrigation equipment , may maintain fence lines and moving farm equipment . Workers performing grove clean-up work will be paid the adverse effect wage rate, the prevailing rate . Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. A copy of the work contract or a copy of the ETA 790 to the worker on the day the work commences.
