Classy Cajun Oyster Farm needs 40 Temporary Oyster Plant Workers to work in our Oyster processing plant located at 6888 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac, LA 70353 in Terrebonne Parish County. Starting October 01, 2023, to June 01, 2024. Must have three months' work-related exp—no education. 40hrs wk. Paid weekly; The employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages. All deductions from the workers' paychecks required by law will be made. Duties: Workers will clean and sanitize the plant in preparation for when oysters arrive from shore or aquaculture farms to be processed in the plant. On arrival workers place oysters on shaking tables and conveyor belts and separate the oysters depending on quality and size; clean, weigh, pack, label, and place the oysters in iceboxes in preparation for pick-up by freezer trucks for delivery to restaurants, manufacturers, or wholesalers for resale. Daily transportation to and from the plant will be provided to workers from the Central location (222 Mark Street, Chauvin, LA 70344) or housing to the plant located (6888 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac, LA, 70353) at no cost to workers. Public transportation is available to the central location (222 Mark Street, Chauvin, LA 70344). Workers will work rotating shifts Monday to Friday - 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM or 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (7hrs) and Saturday 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The anticipated employment will last 120 days or more. The employer guarantees to offer work for a total of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. H2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visas, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Workers will be paid weekly; a single work week will be used to compute wages. Transportation for H-2A Visa workers and non-commuting United States Workers, including meals and lodging to the extent necessary, to the place of employment, will be provided, or its cost to workers will be reimbursed within the first week of arrival. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will pay for the worker's reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to return home or where the worker initially departed. The employer will also pay reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to workers who will not return home due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employer will not pay for return transportation and subsistence to workers reported to have voluntarily abandoned employment. The transportation payment or reimbursement amount will equal the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily meals will be paid at a rate of at least $15.46 p/day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 p/day with receipts. The employer will have furnished lodging available to workers with equipped kitchens for workers to prepare their meals. If workers choose to accept lodging offered by the employer the rental fee will be $150.00 per month with utilities included. Workers are responsible for paying for their lodging, including utilities. Employers will provide workers with all tools, supplies, and equipment needed to perform duties at no charge.

The worker must be standing to perform work duties and work in a cold and wet environment.
