Job description

Workers will perform heavy manual labor including but not limited to planting, cultivating, pruning, and harvesting magnolia trees. Workers will root and pot cuttings, and new trees. Worker will shear tops and limb tips from trees to control growth, increase limb density, and improve shape. Applying herbicides and insecticides, and fertilizing trees on the tree farm. Workers will also spray approved chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases. Employer will issue appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required. Cut, bale and stack fresh-cut tree branches and greenery by hand. May make wreaths and garland/roping from cut greenery produced on the farm. Workers will pack and palletize cut tree branches, wreaths, garlands and bunches. Workers will also load and unload products and supplies on trucks and or wagons. Perform farm, field and shed sanitation duties. Workers will perform assigned farm duties as instructed by their supervisor to include mowing grass and operating weed trimmer. Workers will assist with repair and maintenance of farm vehicles, implements, tools, buildings, and infrastructure. Workers are expected to safely drive and operate farm equipment to include farm tractor, chainsaw, transplanting machines along with other vehicles for moving harvested products and supplies around the farm, plus pulling wagons and trailers on the property.

Special Requirements

Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. All workers will be subject to a training period of up to ten days during which the employer will evaluate workers' performance of required tasks. Employer reserves the right to terminate a worker if the employer reasonably finds worker's performance during the trial period to be unacceptable. Employer reserves the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able but is unwilling to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product, or for any other lawful reason.

The employer may discipline the worker, including brief suspension of work activities/employment for a set period determined by the supervisor or termination of employment.
