Job description
We will have 3000 head of yearling stocker calves that will need to be cared for from December to March. Calves will be confined for winter calving and feeding. They will run in a grow yard confinement where the employee will need to care for cattle during the confinement period. Employee will need to check the water tanks, and use a pickup truck for hauling water, to make sure there is water always available, check to be sure there are no sick calves, and doctoring when needed. They will also be feeding calves in the grow yard with a feed truck daily. In January calves will be moved to wheat pasture. Where employee duties will include assisting with feeding daily, trailering them to the veterinarian if needed, and doctoring calves. Employees will complete all cattle care as assigned, and some general farm duties. In March, the calves will be sold. We only need seasonal assistance during the very labor-intensive yearling season. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
Job requires extensive sitting, repetitive movements, and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Employer will conduct post-hire criminal background checks at no cost to the employee and will not employ anyone with a felony/theft criminal background as required by the workplace safety policy and company HR hiring practices as allowed by law. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license and 3 months experience.
