Farm Equipment Mechanics & Service Technicians

Job description

Maintain and repair farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors and irrigation systems. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with contracted professionals to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Record details of repairs made and parts used. Keep Inventory of all spare parts, keep appropriate stock on hand of spares, oils, lubricants and fuel. Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools. Clean and lubricate parts. Repair or replace defective parts using appropriate hand tools. Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery. Manage invoices according to record of repairs made, labor time, and parts used. Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems. Implement maintenance systems and monthly maintenance logs for machinery and recreational equipment. Keep tools and workshops clean and in good working order. Outsource and coordinate with professional companies and experts when required.

Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator license Class D - Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II - Experienced Level pursuant to the interim final rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II- Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
