Job description

Work will be performed in shifts from Monday-Sunday from 6:00am-2:00pm, 2pm-10pm, and 10pm-6am, with paid lunch. Additional hours may be offered; however, workers will not be required to work more than 8 hours per day. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract.
Main duties include performing manual labor to assist in loading and unloading sugarcane, transport cane and drop trailers at designated locations. The majority of duties include performing manual labor incidental to farming operations, mowing and trimming on premises and housing around wells, buildings, and farm equipment. May burn debris, leaves, and stalks, clean and maintain all work areas, grounds, and facilities, and perform farm, field and shed sanitation duties. May also include, assisting with cleaning and maintaining, fences, and farm buildings, and performing clean-up and post-harvest activities. Secondary duties may include repairing and maintaining farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment using steam cleaner or high-pressure water hose and brooms, blowers, shovels and vacuum cleaning devices. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Work is done in all kinds of weather from extreme heat to extreme cold. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honeybees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job.
Safety procedures must be followed. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit.

Special Requirements

Housing is provided subject to allowable deduction.
Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Negative drug test results are required before starting work.
Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
Assist with Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) policies.
Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce the workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies.
