Job description

This ETA790A clearance order is filed for farmworkers to perform a wide variety of agricultural work in the production of tobacco and diversified vegetable crops as disclosed in this application.

Applicants hired for these farmworker positions will be given their specific daily work assignments by the grower, or individuals designated by the grower, at the farm where they are employed but should be prepared to perform all of the tasks in all of the crops described in this application.

For this application, applicants should expect their work assignments at the beginning of the employment period to begin with pre-planting activities, greenhouse preparation, seeding and maintenance, farm and field site preparation, and other time sensitive seasonal activities that occur during the late winter and/or early spring farming cycle.

Farmworker Camp Cook will plan and coordinate menus to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week for 60+ farmworkers residing in on farm housing. Kitchen prep and clean up. Will clean, maintain and organize kitchen, appliances, cooking infrastructure ? pots/pans/etc., and dishes/disposable service items. Cook will create menu with consideration of workers? preferences and coordinate food supply requests and receive food supply inventories with adherence to budget allocations. Cook is responsible for maintaining a clean organized kitchen, dining, and supplies/inventories area at all times. Will sanitize surfaces following a schedule throughout the day; more often if needed. Will monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety and maintain good records of meals. Must have general knowledge of nutrition guidelines to prepare well balanced meals and experience preparing Mexican cuisine. Workers will be required to prepare meals for Sundays on Saturdays. If workers prefer preparing meals on Sundays, they will have that option but will not be required to work on Sundays. Employer will comply with the North Carolina Food Code Manual regulations, if applicable.
