Job description
Agricultural Equipment Operation: Worker will operate forklifts shipping and packing operation. Workers will also operate trucks or other vehicles on the farm. Workers may perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting repair on equipment. Workers should inspect, observe, and listen to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions. Stay a safe distance away and do not touch any moving part of a machine. Never remove a safety guard. Workers should notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions or is not safe. Any worker’s negligence, resulting in damage to any machinery or equipment, will be cause for disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Workers may install and repair irrigation equipment.
Working team leaders. Some workers may be chosen based on experience, tenure, and workers shown to have excelled in operating the farms, farm equipment. These workers may receive a higher wage rate than what is listed.
Special Requirements:
Below are common special requirements for jobs with similar tasks/crops. Workers will walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift, carry and load up to 50 lbs. repeatedly requires physical stamina work is outside in extremely hot, cold, humid and/or wet conditions for extended periods of time The employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to but does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product.
During certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to accomplish a certain task. When engaging in teamwork activities, workers must coordinate with other members of the team to accomplish the task.
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will be trained in the proper field and shed sanitation. Workers must follow the field and shed sanitation requirements. Not following these requirements are cause for Discipline and/or Termination.
The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker's refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker's willful damage or destruction of the tools.
There will be a short demonstration period (up to 2 days.) to familiarize workers with job specifications, to demonstrate proper methods and other crop specific issues. The employer will not provide separate formal orientation or training periods for each different crop, or each different type of task or job assignment covered within the job description. After completion of the training period the employer will expect all workers to possess the skills to work in the production of the crops above. For purposes of this section six or more hours will be considered one day.
Special Requirements
All workers must have at least 3 month experience as a farmworker. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to post hire and random drug testing at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
